Snippets of: Figure studies by David Michalek

David Michalek, using a high-speed camera (3000 pictures per second) to slow down movement, creates a triptych of high screens on which are projected films of naked people... moving.

It's beautiful and especially powerful when the people haven't got "normal" bodies but are old, skinny, very muscular or physically disabled.
The use of a black background and the porcelain-white appearance of the skin reminded me of Renaissance paintings.

The exhibition is on at Summerhall in Edinburgh until the 27th, then will be in Paris at Le Laboratoire from the 5th of October.
